The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Management Alters Venue for Plateau State Orientation Camp

In response to the deteriorating security situation, the NYSC administration has made a temporary relocation of the Plateau State orientation camp. The move comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of prospective corps members.

According to NYSC spokesperson Eddy Megwa, the orientation camp originally slated to be held in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) will now take place at the Waye Foundation, located in Dio-Du, Jos—the state capital. The change of venue applies specifically to the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Camp.

Prospective corps members are urged to take note of the adjustment and report to the new temporary NYSC orientation camp at the designated dates stated in their call-up letters. The Waye Foundation, adjacent to Buken Academy, serves as the temporary location for the orientation program.

While the NYSC has not explicitly stated the reasons behind the relocation, it is widely speculated that the decision is motivated by the escalating security concerns in the region, particularly in Mangu LGA. The Plateau State Government recently imposed a 24-hour curfew in Mangu following a series of deadly attacks that resulted in loss of life and property.

To prevent further violence and potential reprisals, the authorities took swift action to secure the area.
By swiftly adapting to the changing circumstances, the NYSC aims to prioritize the safety and security of all participants involved in the orientation program. The temporary relocation to a more secure location reflects the organization’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of corps members during their service.
