The Weeknd Reigns Supreme as the World’s Most Popular Artist

On Spotify, The Weeknd became the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly listeners (112 million as of March 24, 2023), a record he holds alone, with Miley Cyrus coming in at 83 million.

With 3.4 billion streams, The Weeknd’s hit single “Blinding Lights,” which was released in November 2019, holds the record for the most streamed song on Spotify.

With his hit single “Die For You,” featuring Ariana Grande, going viral on Tik Tok, the 33-year-old pop star has enjoyed enormous digital success worldwide.

After boycotting the Grammys because his album “After Hours” was not nominated, the award-winning artist, who was dubbed the “King of streams” by the Guinness World Record, performed as the headlining act at Super Bowl 55 in 2021.
