The Third Mainland Bridge will on Friday, 26th February be shut down by the Lagos State Government for 24 hours till midnight Saturday, 27th February.
This was made known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde.
He said that the total closure of the bridge was to enable contractors to move their equipment off the bridge and allow for the full reopening of both Oworonshoki and Adeniji bound lanes.
Oladeinde in his statement advised motorists approaching the bridge from Alapere, Ogudu and Gbagada to use Ikorodu road, Yaba and Jibowu, as alternative routes.
Also, vehicles from Lagos-Island, Oyingbo, Iddo, Adekunle and Yaba approaching Oworonshoki are advised to use Jibowu, Harbert Macaulay way, and Ikorodu Road as alternative routes.
The Commissioner also assured that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel would be deployed to the affected routes to help ease and address any traffic issues that would arise during the closure.
