An explosion at a military explosives factory in Turkey resulted in the loss of five lives, according to a statement made by the regional governor.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning in the dynamite preparation department, where a chemical reaction is believed to have triggered the blast. Vasip Sahin, the governor of Ankara province, shared the preliminary information with reporters at the factory, expressing his regret over the fatalities.

Rescue teams have successfully retrieved the bodies of all the victims from the debris. In response to the incident, prosecutors have initiated an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the accident.

The factory, situated in the Elmadag region, approximately 40 kilometers (25 miles) east of the capital city Ankara, falls under the jurisdiction of Turkey’s defense ministry.
