Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Calls Out Russia for Deadly Assault on Civilians

Ukraine’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, has accused Russia of targeting and killing civilians, including children, in a recent attack on two Ukrainian cities.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Kuleba condemned the assault, stating, “Last night, Russia launched a ruthless attack on residential areas in Lviv and Kryvyi Rih, resulting in civilian casualties, including children.”

The attack was reportedly carried out using missiles and drones, striking homes, schools, and hospitals. Notably, heritage buildings in Lviv’s UNESCO-protected area were also damaged.

Kuleba called on international leaders and organizations to denounce Russia’s actions, urging, “All capitals, ministers, and international organizations must strongly condemn this war crime. We need immediate statements and decisive actions.”

He emphasized the need for Ukraine’s allies to deliver promised air defense systems and ammunition, and to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities, allowing for long-range strikes on legitimate military targets in Russia.

“Partner air defense systems must be deployed to protect Ukrainian civilians. Intercepting deadly threats in the air is not an act of war, but a necessity to save lives,” Kuleba argued. “The decision to enable neighboring countries to use these defense systems must be made without delay.”

Kuleba concluded by stressing the importance of a strong, united response to Russia’s aggression: “Russia only understands the language of force. We must act decisively, lead with courage, and bring an end to this terror.”

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has continued to escalate, resulting in significant loss of life and widespread destruction.
