The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, announced on Thursday the suspension of its Envoy on Technology, Fabrizio Drummond.
The suspension is as a result of allegations of harassment and inappropriate behaviours against the Envoy
The 57-year-old Fabrizio Drummond, who hails from Chile is the UN’s first-ever technology envoy.
His suspension came only six days after his appointment
Guterres while speaking at a news conference in New York, said he placed Drummond on leave pending the ongoing investigation by the organization into the matter.
He said that investigation on the matter was the right thing to do and placing Drummond on leave was a precautionary measure that is to be taken.
Hoping that the investigation is quickly conducted Guterres assured that they now have a more powerful system of investigation of all forms of harassment.
