VALVERDE BACKS SUAREZ FOR ARSENAL SUCCESS AHEAD OF IMPENDING MOVE

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed Denis Suarez’s move to Arsenal and has said he would be a success at the English club. The midfielder’s move is expected to be completed soon.

The 25-year-old will join the Gunners on loan until the end of the season, having signed a one year deal to extend his contract with Barca until 2021.

Suarez is keen to leave the camp nou in search of game time which Barcelona has deprived him. Valverde says the deal is not quite finalised but hopes the move benefits both parties.

According to Valverde, he insisted that Ivan Rakitic remains an intergral part of his plans, though reports have it that Chelsea are trying to sign him. Ivan Rakitic has confirmed he would be staying at Barcelona and Valverde has suggested he could yet extend his stay at Barca beyond this season.

Barca are set to take on Sevilla on Wednesday in the second leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final, looking to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg.

Valverde hopes the Camp Nou crowd can help inspire a turnaround, although he admits it will be up to the team to bring about the best from the supporters.
