Villarreal sensation Nicolas Jackson has successfully completed his medical examination in preparation for his highly anticipated switch to Chelsea during this summer transfer window. The London club has decided to surpass the Senegal international’s £30 million release clause, albeit paying the amount in structured installments.
With an impressive tally of 13 goals last season for Villarreal, the talented forward is set to reinforce Chelsea’s struggling attacking line-up at Stamford Bridge. The 22-year-old prodigy has already reached an agreement on personal terms, securing an extensive eight-year contract with the Blues. His imminent signing appears all but confirmed, making him a potential valuable asset for Chelsea.
Jackson will mark the second addition to Chelsea’s squad this summer, following the earlier acquisition of Christopher Nkunku, who also operates as a forward.
During a challenging campaign that saw Chelsea finish in 12th place, the team suffered significantly from a lack of goals. Their meager total of 38 strikes in the Premier League placed them among the bottom four clubs in terms of scoring efficiency.
To exacerbate their scoring woes, no Chelsea player managed to reach double digits in goals throughout the entire season. Notably, Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz both netted nine times, with the latter assuming the role of Chelsea’s primary striker. However, recent reports suggest that Havertz is poised to depart for Arsenal in a lucrative £65 million deal.
Having joined Villarreal in 2019 as a young talent, Jackson swiftly made his La Liga debut in 2021, impressing fans and pundits alike with his remarkable skills and goal-scoring prowess.
