The Afenifere National Youth Council has pledged to back Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, in the February 25 election.

This was stated in Lagos on Sunday by Eniola Ojajuni, the council’s National President.

Ojajuni revealed that Obi had the group’s support due to his Anambra State governorship records.

He said that restructuring Nigeria was one of the best plans, and he believes that the election will be free and fair.

“We are here to officially endorse Obi, the LP’s sole candidate for the Southwest youth wing. Obi and his running mate, Ahmed Datti, are our sole candidates for the presidential election on Saturday. It took us almost three months to come to a conclusion among the 147 youth groups in Yoruba land. Today, we officially announced Obi and Ahmed Datti as our sole candidates.

“Obi assured us that the first thing he would do is to restructure the country before we endorsed him.”

“The youth in the Southwest are prepared to vote, and we believe that the election will be free and fair. Our objective is to garner five million votes for him.
He urged Yoruba people all over the country to vote for Obi, noting that the time has come for the Southeast to become president.

“The Yoruba have had a shot at the presidency through former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan, both of whom are from the South South, which is why we endorsed Obi. Our ongoing president Muhammadu Buhari is from the North. “For equity and justice, it is the Southeast’s turn to produce the presidency,” he stated.
