Shell Redoubles Efforts To Cleanup Oil Spillage In Niger Delta

Shell Nigeria has increased effort to cleanup spillage and repair damaged pipe lines to stem crude oil losses estimated at over 8 million barrels worth nearly $600 million.

The Trans Ramos pipeline in the Forcados area of West Delta has remained  shutdown for over 3 months.

Both corrosion and criminal activities are blamed for the pipeline damage.

Of late, Shell has been implementing strictly the practice of cleaning up spillage to prevent the kind of massive damage to the environment that happened in Ogoniland in East Delta.

Economic Advantages

This practice reduces the amount of money Shell pays as compensation to people and communities impacted by operational oil spills.
