The APC rally which held at the sky power ground Ikeja, Lagos was well attended by party faithfuls and party leaders. The beautiful atmosphere soon went sour at around 2:45pm when hoodlums with guns, daggers, knives and other deadly weapons stormed the arena. A lot of people who attended the rally went home injured including journalists, about three persons were yesterday feared dead.
The situation sent shivers through spines across the campaign ground as party faithfuls ran for their dear lives to avoid being hit by stray bullets fired indiscriminately by these hoodlums.
The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode who was making a speech before the arrival of the hoodlums had to vacate the stage in a haste and was heavily guarded out of the premises in company of his deputy, Dr Idiat Adebule.
The said crisis broke out between two warring groups, the loyalists of the treasurer of NURTW who is a strong member of the APC in Oshodi, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya who is popularly known by his alias MC OLUOMO and Kunle Poly who is the man in charge of the Lagos Island Transport Union.
All effort of the policemen there present proved abortive as MC OLUMO was beaten with the use of dangerous weapons and he was reportedly stabbed on his cheek by the hoodlums of the rival group.
Reacting on the developments, the APC Chairman, Mr Tunde Balogun and the Publicity Secretary in person of Joe Igbokwe apologised for the scene caused and promised Lagosians that such an event will never repeat itself.
