BENUE STATE APPROVES INCREASE IN MONTHLY PENSION ALLOCATION

The Honourable Special Adviser, Bureau of Local Government and Chieftain Affairs has announced an increase in the Monthly Allocation to the Benue State Local Government Pensions Board, on the directives of the Executive Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom.

Addressing the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting which held on Wednesday at the Conference Hall of the Bureau, the Special Adviser also approved the constitution of a Pensions Advisory Committee with a marching order on them to immediately evolve pragmatic ways of ensuring that all Pensioners at the third tier are carried along in the payment of their Monthly entitlements.

He also assured of relentless efforts by the Governor Samuel Ortom led administration to offset all salaries and Pension arrears in the State as the financial fortunes improve.

Tor Shimbe renewed his charge on Council Chairmen to prioritize payment of salaries and timely remittances to Statutory Agencies of Government as contained in the Local Government Financial Guidelines and urged the Local Government Treasurers to ensure that their financial records were up to date.

He formally welcomed two new members of the JAAC to the forum including the newly Sworn in Chairmen of the Local Government Service Commission as well as the State Universal Basic Education Board, Ben Melladu and Pastor Emmanuel Aper respectively and assured them of his accessibility to offer his counsel and support where necessary.

In a remark ALGON Chairman Benue State, Anthony Shawon assured the meeting that the Council Chairmen would diligently comply with all the directives and commended the Special Adviser for his openness and transparent disposition as the Arrowhead of the Bureau.
