HEAVY PROTEST ROCK ONDO STATE AS DRIVERS, PETTY TRADERS TAKE TO THE STREETS TS

There was heavy protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Thursday as several people who wanted the progress of the states ranging from commercial drivers to members of the Nigeria Forest Services known as Forest guards, farmers and even petty traders stormed the streets protesting in support of the order issued by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves in the state within seven days.

The protesters carried placards begging the Ondo Governor not to back down on his directive.

Comrade Jacob Adejo, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, said the lives of commercial drivers and that of the passengers were no longer safe in the state.

Adejo said his members need protection as herdsmen attacked them with impunity and even went as far as kidnapping some of them before now.
