CHELSEA FC CONFIRMS SACK OF FRANK LAMPARD

Chelsea have now confirmed that they have relieved manager Frank Lampard of his duties after the club’s recent dip in form.

The former England midfielder spent 18 months at the helm at Stamford Bridge and he impressed during his first full season as manager, guiding the club to fourth in the Premier League despite a transfer ban.

However, after a similarly decent start to the current campaign, Chelsea’s form has collapsed over the last two months and they’ve won just one of their last five matches in the Premier League.

That’s left Chelsea 9th in the league table, on 29 points at the halfway stage of the campaign and owner Roman Abramovich has decided to sack Lampard.

The tragic news comes just 24 hours after Chelsea beat Luton Town 3-1 in the FA Cup to progress to the fifth round and Lampard had initially been expected to be given at least the next two fixtures against Wolves and Burnley at home.

Despite the fact that the English club spent around £225million last summer while rivals struggled with the financial effects of the pandemic, bringing in the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell, the Club is still gnashing teeths over a top four finish.

Gaffers such as Thomas Tuchel, Max Allegri and Andriy Shevchenko are rumoured to be in line to replace Lampard.
