President Tinubu Unveils Vision for Nigeria’s Trillion-Dollar Economy Within a Decade

President Bola Tinubu outlined a bold economic vision during the 2023 National Engineering Conference in Abuja. Emphasizing the significance of Nigeria’s population and resources, he underscored his administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” targeting a trillion-dollar economy within ten years. Tinubu highlighted key elements such as job creation, capital accessibility, inclusiveness, rule of law, and the fight against poverty and corruption as pivotal factors in this transformative journey.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu stressed the synergy between Nigeria’s abundant resources and its potential for exponential economic growth. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians but remained resolute that these tough times are transient compared to the lasting benefits envisioned.

Discussing his administration’s strides in economic transformation, Tinubu addressed critical sectors like manufacturing, taxation, foreign exchange, and infrastructure. He pledged streamlined taxation, transparent foreign exchange rates, and substantial support for infrastructure development and manufacturing enterprises.

Furthermore, he unveiled plans for a single-digit interest-rate fund to bolster manufacturing and highlighted the Central Bank’s renewed focus on inflation management and exchange rate stability.

Tinubu urged collaboration between the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the government, and stakeholders, emphasizing the necessity of a joint effort to ensure enduring prosperity. He committed to creating an enabling environment for policies, legislation, and actions vital for achieving these ambitious economic goals.

Lastly, he stressed the importance of measuring success beyond profits, focusing on poverty reduction, job creation, and the fight against corruption. Tinubu encouraged private sector leaders to assess achievements based on broader societal impacts.
