Edo State Governor, Obaseki Increase Minimum Wage to N70,000

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has approved a substantial increase in the minimum wage for state workers, setting it at N70,000. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the new Labour House in the state, with the change slated to take effect from May 1st, 2024.

The newly commissioned Labour House bears the name of the state’s former governor, Adams Oshiomhole, honoring his legacy. Governor Obaseki expressed his commitment to improving the welfare of Edo State’s workforce, emphasizing the elevation of the minimum wage from N40,000 to N70,000.

Furthermore, the governor pledged to further enhance workers’ monthly salaries if the Federal Government implements a new minimum wage for its employees. Detailed information regarding the increased minimum wage will be revealed to the public during the commemoration of this year’s Workers Day on Wednesday, May 1st.
