ISIS Claims Responsibility for Terrorist Attack in Moscow That Claimed 115 Lives

The death toll from the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow has tragically risen to 115, according to an update from Russia’s investigative committee on Saturday afternoon. Initially reported at 93 fatalities, the toll continues to climb since the shooting occurred on Friday. Originally pegged at 40, the figure was expected to rise, as Russian authorities warned.

The Islamic State (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the attack, adding to the horror of the situation. The assailants, reportedly dressed in camouflage and without masks, fled the scene in a white car bearing a Renault symbol with a tinted rear window. Armed with automatic weapons, they indiscriminately fired upon the crowd and even threw a grenade within the hall, causing devastating destruction, especially to the upper floors which were described as “completely destroyed” by the ensuing fire.

In response to this heinous act, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has made progress in apprehending suspects, with FSB Director Bortnikov informing Putin of the detention of 11 individuals, including the four terrorists directly involved in the attack, according to the Kremlin.

Additionally, the Russian investigative committee confirmed the detention of four suspects in the Bryansk region near the Ukrainian border. The International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) has swiftly condemned the attack, expressing readiness to assist in the investigation as the world grapples with the shock and grief inflicted by this senseless violence.
