EAST AFRICAN TRADE WITH U.S: SPAT OVER THE REGION’S BAN ON IMPORT OF SECOND-HAND CLOTHES FROM U.S

East African countries recently banned the imports of second-hand clothes from America. That angered President Trump; he threatened retaliation through AGOA, which allows imports of commodities from the region under favorable conditions._

The East African countries are having second thoughts. Only Rwanda is still resisting. Fact is proceeds from AGOA do not compensate for the huge spending on the second-hand clothes. Last year the bill on second-hand clothes came to area $830 million for Uganda alone.
